Mindset Monday: Cultivating a Culture of Excellence
I am beginning the week reflecting on the importance of workplace ethos.
What does your ethos truly look like through the eyes of your customers, your talented team, and leadership?
Do you have a clear definition of the ethos your company aspires to cultivate? Does everyone know the ethos and cultural aspirations so that they are able to demonstrate them consistently? How is everyone incented to actively demonstrate these values?
Identifying disconnects between key stakeholders is crucial. It's a fantastic starting point for taking action and building a roadmap to a thriving workplace ethos.
For me personally, a healthy ethos is characterized by:
> Trust & Kindness: Open communication, mutual respect, and psychological safety where everyone is heard and valued.
> Growth & Development: Opportunities for continuous learning, innovation, and skill development and/or career advancement for all team members.
> Purpose & Impact: A shared sense of purpose that drives meaningful work positively impacting our customers, our team talent, business outcomes and the world.
I believe in intentionally showing up and reflecting the ethos I desire. Do you know your company's desired ethos?
> If so, do you support the stated vision and demonstrate it through actions and words?
> If you are not aware of your company's aspired ethos, that is a great conversation to initiate.
To be effective, ethos conversations should be intentional and well planned, with support from all levels of the organization, along with input from customers and team talent. A strong ethos inspires, empowers, requires buy-in and accountability.
